Sections

· Beavers Age 5 ¾ 7 ½ – 8 years

· Cubs Age 8 10 Years

· Scouts Age 10 15 Years

Each Section is operated under a sixes principal (Gun Crews), this means that there will be groups of six children in each section with a Sixer (Leader) and a Seconder (Assistant Leader).

The Gun Crews in the Beaver Colony are named and given an identity: –

Victory – Invincible – Albion – Indefatigable

Warranted Leaders

Warranted Leaders are adults who will lead the Beavers, Cubs and eventually Scouts.

All Warranted Leaders are CRB checked and have been registered with the Scout Movement.

Group Scout Leader (GSL)

Each Scout Group requires a GSL; this is an individual who will have a position of oversight. Simon Durant is our Group Scout Leader. If Parents or leaders have any concerns they should firstly speak to Simon Durant 07919 596103 simon@seasouts.me

Warranted Leaders

Each Section of the group must have two Warranted Leaders known as Leaders and assistant Leaders, these will be uniformed and no meeting can take place without at least one Warranted Officer present. Warranted Leaders have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and also complete the leader’s registration forms with the Scout Movement.

We need more Warranted Leaders for the Group, these are people who are able to help on any given evening not necessarily each week but as and when required. If you think you have one hour in a month then you would be helping a great deal.

Group Committee

In order to alleviate pressure on those people who have volunteered to lead the children it is important to put in place a group of people who are able to help with the organisational tasks.

All parents/guardians are members of the Group committee. The Group Committee will meet once a year at the Annual General Meeting, at that meeting a vote will be taken on the members of the Executive Committee.

Executive Committee

In order to provide direction and responsibility for the group we have an Executive Committee, ours is made up as follows: -

Chairman

Craig Scollick

Subscriptions (Subs)

Our committee has decided that children will pay £35 each a term as subs, if there are two siblings in the group their joint subs will be £60 a term, if three their joint subs will be £75. This money is for hire of the halls, equipment used at the meetings and an annual fee to the Scouting Movement (this is for membership and insurance for all members to the RTSS).
